Within the content scope outline, there are two types of topics: those with a star symbol and those without a star symbol.
If a topic has a star symbol, that means that an examinee must rely solely on recalled doctrinal knowledge and understanding of the topic. These topics will be tested without provision of legal resources.
If a topic does not have a star symbol, that means that the topic may be tested with or without provision of legal resources. Questions with legal resources provided may include materials such as statutes, regulations, or case law on the topic. For questions where legal resources are not provided, you will be expected to rely on your own recalled knowledge and understanding in order to demonstrate recognition that the topic is at issue, but you will not be expected to demonstrate recalled doctrinal knowledge of the topic.
